As they are harder-wearing than untreated material, coated tools guarantee long service lives when used for industrial production processes. The choice of the correct coating is becoming an ever more important factor in the race to beat competitors.

As a manufacturer of high quality precision tools, Exact was quick to identify the possibility of increasing efficiency by using a range of different coatings and rapidly included them in its range of products.

The changing complexity of the list of surface finish requirements has given rise to increasing demands for tailor-made coatings that are specially developed for a specific application.

In view of this and the fact that EXACT is one of the innovation leaders in the precision tools industry, the company intends as from 2008 to move into the production of high quality surface finishes with its own production systems and also to drive forward research and development in this field in partnership with well-known research institutions.

  Tenifer

The Drill is again heating up in nitrogen. As a result chrome and molybdenum off the HSS are binding nitrogen and produce a nitrided surface of 1.000 HV. The core-hardness of the tool is keeping constant, but the hardness of the surface becomes much higher. The result is less abrasion, longer tool-life and less cold-welding.

  Vaporisation

Steam tamping process. The nonferrous oxide film reduces cold-welding.
